Did some white spray painting on a few vent pipes on the roof-managed not to fall through the skylights-more paint on me it seems than on the pipes! Got a case of beer, and some wine, for a deck party tonight-(check out the sun going down over the water)-pot luck food should be enough for all-if your this way, your invited too!

Find lightest weights possible-preferably from an old Nun's home. Idea is strictly light weights for everything. A radio that will give you some music-oldies but goodies, perhaps. A small refrigerator with water and beer. Point, just going through the numbers each day, and every day. (1) if you have a stationary bike 5 minutes, easiest setting available-for first two weeks, progress to ten minutes second two weeks. If you do not have a stationary bike, but you do have mobile bike-same time but, do not stop using your legs to do coasting-a big no here. Find flat streets only-no hills or mountains yet.
In terms of free weights, start off with just the Bar and collars-no 50 pound plates yet please! Do a series of bench presses-moderate not fast or slow, about 30 reps; standing or setting militaries 30 reps, behind the neck militaries 30 reps, curls 30 reps (standing); 1/2 knee squats 10 reps-use bare bar in front of body, but preferable in back of neck.
If you can lay on the floor (with out pain) good soft padding is good for these exercises too. (1) sit at ninety degrees, and do 30 front bends-easy .... no forcing; then 30 back bends-just go to about 45% ... no straining, use the bare bar only; next with the bar on your shoulders siting on the floor do 30 side twists-do not force this, or snap into a jerking movement-very easy. Get up get, and do a drink of water-slowly.
If you have a fast bag, or a heavy bag do only 3 minutes, easy punching (on each if you have both bags)-ware some slip-on gloves for your hands, the 3 minutes are for the first two weeks, and then 2 sets of 3 minutes for the last 2 weeks.
Stay away from all scales, don't sacrifice any food that you really care for-just do it in moderation .... you already know what that is, and will attend to it at your own time.
The idea is to do this steady for every day for one month-could care less what exercise you care to start with, as long as you use light weights only, do not over do the limits noted by adding more weight, or doing more reps. Do this for one month-then we will start on phase two together. In this phase you do the identical exercises, but with added weights, not much ... about 10 pounds, doing all the workout-with perhaps a break in the 7 day schedule with an aerobic exercise-Jogging (slow) for only 12 minutes to start for a few weeks: or swimming in a pool if possible so you can count a few laps .... sideways, starting with about 10 for at least 3 sets-not fast but slow, and try and keep your profile sharp and consistent-good breathing, and no flapping about with the arms!
Another, excellent work out on your none workout days would be your road bike, or cross country machine-idea here is the amount of work that goes into getting either bike or car in shape expends energy, and indeed keeps one quite fit---especially, when upon return you clean up the bike or car again.
If you get into the sport of boxing to lose weight only, and get into shape ... really be kind to yourself-do not over do it. The idea is to do it all, but not enough to get hurt. Good idea is to hit the showers extra times as you can-keeps you clean, but water is a good body and mind relaxer, you expend energy moving about and drying off too.
Do hope some of this helps-will respond if you are interested with other measures as you go on and progress. You should keep a dated record of what you do, and when-always note your times. Good luck Df.

You mean you went with a bird, a paper handout or on a whim???
Dragonfly
Jun 29 2007, 11:51 AM
Went with a bird-feathered friend .... to the vet's. Bad infection, and she was picking feathers-bird gets bloody after a time of continued working the same areas. Have been treating for several months since we took her in to work with her.
Antibiotics, or shots daily, and medication under wings where bird picks. Vet indicated that bird looked visually sound, however took blood tests, and cleaned away dead tissue and feathers from under wing areas. Did this myself in the past, but wanted another blood work-up from a different vet to check current infection rate status, and a pro's views for bird's future treatment. Have re-installed a neck brace which prevent futher feather picking untill areas become healed-she was a rescue ... now she is a member of the flock.
Sorry for not being very clear, and more specfic with my wording .... second part, was geting set for working with another group of people-about 74 according to current print-out. Much of the work was done several months ago since jobs are given out at that time. Yet, number of people you will deal with becomes problematic, untill a few weeks before start, or not at all.
At times the reverse is true, someone may become sick, and like many work efforts, there is a need to fill their job/s in at the last moment. Becomes exciting-especially, the money aspect. New job is working weekends only. Nice no one there except your group. Because many working people can not do the standard week, the weekend benifits all that must work during the week, and actually provides a service for them.

up at 0630 (!! WTF??) Cut the front yard, pulled chain maintenance on bikes (650R and KLR). Went to the grocery store about 0800, bought some stuff for breakfast, then made myself a couple small egg/onion/sausage/jalapeno/salsa burritos. Pulled PMCS on the wife's Jeep, pulled the KLR motor apart- eveything looks good. Rearranged stuff in the garage in order to pull the KLR into it along with the 650R so I can hopefully finish off the 685 kit this evening. Tomorrow I'll jump on the back yard (horrors!!), side yard, and transmission replacement in the Blazer (having finally found that the materials used in the bypass filter are acceptable for POL use)

burntkat,
From the amount of work you do, no question indeed, that you certainly burn a lot of energy and calories. Any exercise, or conditioning you get into should still remain very light, and consistent .That is, until you build up these very areas you wish to work. This is more of a forever work-out that builds on time in terms of amount of weights used and number of repetitions. BTW, from the amount of work you do, not many would want to work out-except for sack time.

all are great bikes. I've ridden the Shadow and the Vulcan. If it were my money, I'd go with the Vulcan. the gearbox is a lot better (better feeling of engagement- the Shadow box is a bit vague).
You can't go wrong with any of them, though.
Make SURE you get crash bars!! They add resale value and will save you money whne you drop her.

I haven't had a bike in 24 years or thereabouts. I bought a 1983 Suzuki Savage 650cc one lunger. The bike was good due to low ride height, the engine sucked arse. It was the only bike (new) that I could afford that had a combination of reasonable price and low ride height. Next bike would be a Suzuki TL 1000 or a Ducati. I love the looks and sound of those bikes. Brrrrrrrrrrr....... lol.

I cut the seat down (makes it much more cozy) and it sits low and the center of gravity makes it such an easy ride. It is a great bike and with all the aftermarket, you will not outgrow it.

I think I'd jump on that if it's in good shape.
Valuation:
http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=...c=MC>c=MCLow retail is just shy of $4000, and high is about $5200. This is without ANY add-ons (pipes, seat, shield, crashbars, etc).
If I had a spare $4500 I'd be buying that bike right about now.
