my day:
worked from 2000 last night to 0800 this morning. Fuck me, I gotta find another project.....
got home about 0900. Noticed the wife's right front tire was low again. Tripped on the bike to get a can of fix a flat, came home, installed it, topped up the air in the tire, went for a ride. Noticed, of course, the expected oout of balance condition one gets when it's on a large steering axle till it heats up and flows round the tire. She'll have to deal with that for a week or so.
so of course, being my wife is going to obsess about any thing- I then spent two hours trying to explain to her that no, she really doesn't need tires, but if she wants them, we might as well go ahead and do the lift since she's going to need shocks soon anyway and has been wanting to lift the jeep. Showed her the budge-boost front-rear coil swap my friend did on an identical vehicle. "But will it work on mine?" (Dear, it's the exact.same.vehicle. YES) "But how can you be sure?" (Because it's the exact.same.vehicle... and we've done it) "But how can you be sure?" (This is my area of expertise honey, please trust me).
: sigh : we must love each other deep down.. to put up with each other.

So then that leads to ordering tires. If we order them online how will we mount them? (you'll help me honey-- remember, I've mounted the last 4 sets of tires on my Jeep and Blazer, both bikes, and several friend's tires? All I'll need you to do is hand me the tools as I ask for 'em, and keep the soap bottle topped-up. Everything else is technique and muscle, which I'll be providing.) But how will we balance them? (I'll balance them, like I did all the others) But how, you don't have the tools? (I don't need tools-- I use internal, active balancing media. I even used them in my bike tires, and if they didn't work I'd probably be dead now seeing as how there's only two tires). But how do they work? (Go to www.innovativebalancing.com honey, it explains it) $10 per tire to balance a tire? (No, honey-- this is why I use Airsoft beads. The only difference is that I can't install them through the valvecore-- which also means that they can't jam in the valvecore and cause deflation). But what physical principle does this work on? (I'm not sure, honey. Can you explain to me the specifis of electron flow and Kirchoff's Voltage Law? No? But you use electricity all the time, right? All I know is that it works.. again, this is my area, trust me)
Finally convinced her to go with the budget boost, as I have a set of tires and wheels already assembled in the backyard from helping a friend overhaul his TJ before he shipped out to Guam. (Wife's jeep has a bent rear rim, so might as well replace it while we're at it). This'll cost her less than the tires would have, and she'll probably get a couple years out of these tires, easily. Meanwhile, we address her Jeep's need for tires, rims, shocks, and her want of a suspension lift. All for cheaper than the price of a new set of treads.
Got about 4 hours of sleep, what with her watching her race, the dogs playing, the kid playing, and my schedule being completely FUBAR. Up at 1800, SSS, and grabbed the Band of Brothers series onthe way out the door to keep me up tonight. In theory.
