Lazed about the house most of the day, then picked the boy up and took him to work. Bonus find: the bar where he usually works weekends now has free wi-fi, so now I have something to do other than sitting here looking girly and pretty while he works.

sat in the second day of a certification class my company is putting on.
came home, looked over my notes-- and took the pretest again.. and did worse than I did the first time. GRRRRR
pulled the transmission in the blazer. found the flexplate is cracked. Luckily it's on the shelf and cheap at Advance, so I went and bought one. cleaned up so maybe the code enforcement asshole won't have a tizzy. will put the flexplate in tomorrow and shoul dget the tranny in on wednesday. no helper till then, and I'm installing the transmission and transfer as one unit so I can ensure the transfer bolts are torqued properly (and threadlocked to hell and back).
will go ahead and redo the vacuum lines tomorrow as well. maybe get some cold air in the truck, not to mention better economy. gods, wouldn't that be nice!!

Up at about 5:40 am, did shower, made food for all the animals-inside and out, cleaned a bit- was back in the sack untill 9am! It only took an hour or so to do the work bit. Got back up at sound of jack hammers in the street.

Did some prework, now feed the animals again, before I leave, will be gone several hours. Sleep is nice!

I'm a stagehand (work backstage for concerts, Broadway tours, opera, ballet, corporate events, etc.). During the season, four days in a row is like a vacation. We've just been absurdly slow this summer, so I've gotten used to only doing one or two days a week (read: lazy

)).

Volunteer, snuffy. I used to when my job was more erratic. Volunteered at a major hospital in the IT department. They loved me. They even went so far as to try to hire me, but then the union got involved and fecked everything up royally. No wonder I loathe unions and big business equally. Generally both are obstructionists and jackasses to the same degree. Not all though.

Threw together a display booth detailing what my union local does in about eight minutes at the office. Flew to Union Label Day (put on by the local union label coalition where I'm a board member). Ended up manning not only my local's booth but opening poker hands (it's a pseudo-poker run...all in one room, gather cards from four booths instead of making it a road trip) as well as keeping an eye on the kitchen (we were serving free hot dogs, chips and sodas).
By the end of the day I understood quite clearly how and why people get addicted to drugs. I could use some.
But wait...the day's not over. I have to do two loads of laundry, run through the shower, and be out the door by 10pm. It's 7:55 now.
So...about those drugs....

I just received official notification that I will once again be working directly for the government - beginning 1 Oct 2007.
It was my 'Plan B' job, but I'll take it. Can you say, "long-term career plans?" My position will be the Site IAM (Information Assurance Manager) for those who are interested.

Pappy, i never knew you sold planes! We are talking about real life size right? Because if you can sell the gliders or the remote control ones for 15k... well im in the wrong line of work

Still doing the weekend drill with the reservist. For a reserve unit the work really well. Not like more typical units where they show up 3 days a month and think they are Rambo. Have the top and doors off the jeep, driving to work this morning was a real treat! I had the heater blasting and the front of the cab keeps you somewhat warm in the feet and legs. But the rest of it.

I could see my breath!
