Did a few hours of paper shifting-about another two days left on this effort! Then went out for a few supplies. Did pick up the second season of "Bones". Presently, on the third season of House, having fun with this series-unfortunately, have only about 6 hours left-hope number 4 season is released soon. Snuffy's new HD DVD set-up is giving me some salivating thoughts, and a new slant on DVDs, especially about buying them in standard format.

I couldn't agree with you more! I've been up in Tahoe since 2000. And over the years there is always one really bad fire that was started by some asshole doing something stupid. Personally i think that if the person is caught they should be shot!
Yeah, like the one a few years ago near Heavenly...what was it, someone smoking on the tram (illegal) and tossing the butt out the window? A friend of mine lost his entire back yard, and the only reason his house didn't go up was his entire family standing there with garden hoses.
Today, apparently the boy and I blew off all responsibilities and slept. Neither of us meant to, but we didn't get to sleep until about 8:30am and neither one of us heard our alarms. Luckily, all I missed was a family birthday party. He missed his first job. We called and it's OK, though, so that's good. Now I'm home catching up on a few things before heading back over there.

didn't mind that part of it- it was just the writing of the movie- the dialog, mainly. That and the fact that every human major character delivered their lines like they were just off a meth fix.
When the mother said the dog's jewelry was "his bling" I coud have shot the writers in the head right then and there and felt nothing.
sorry, the writers suck. The directors suck. The transformers themselves looked all jacked up-- come on, Optimus doesn't have LIPS, he has a plastron over his face from the brige of the "nose" down.

So did I, i still have to original movie on VHS!
So when i went to dive school one of the things you had to do was swim in a dive take with a partner for about 45mins to 1hr. Then the instructors would come down and either turn off you tank or cut your air line or tank you mouth piece! So it made you rely on your partner. My dive partner was an idiot!

when I took my training, they made you jump in with your weight belt on, and no gear. Said gear being at the bottom of the pool in a jumble- you had to find it, and don it underwater, properly. Just putting the mouthpiece in your mouth didn't cut it, although that's the first thing you do.
then we practiced the inverse. Of course that was a good way to get hurt when you came back up, if you held your breath.

believe I've witnessed the neighbors skipping out on their house....
Friday the wife said she notices as I was leaving, that the neighbors were coming and going rather often- shuttling clothes and the like to.. somewhere, in their cars. Where is anyone's guess.
Later, after the kid and I had left for camping, she said that the electric company came by and shut off their power.
Noone's seen them since, except for a quick dash in and out. House is completely dark, but there's still a project car (VW GTI) in the yard, complete with motor and bits around it, and last I heard there was a dog in the back yard. Haven't noticed any furniture being moved, b ut honestly, the couple times I was in their house, there wasn't much in the way of furniture-- no sofa in the living room, in fact nothing in the living room, for that matter.
Very odd. they bought a few months before I did- been something like 3 years now-- which would have been just long enough for an ARM teaser rate to have expired, and the rates and payments to start skyrocketing. Perhaps this is what I keep hearing about, this "housing credit crisis".... which, :knock wood: hasn't effected me-- being smart enough to go for the slightly higher fixed-rate mortgage back when I bought over the ARM.
With any luck, the ARM crisis will put the riffraff back in apartments where they belong. (sorry, but the riffraff in question can't afford upkeep, and really ought to be renting and letting someone else worry about upkeep).

Yardwork. We figured it was the last relatively decent day, so we'd best get winterized. All storm windows are now up, the planter is covered, the outside faucets are off, and the hoses are rolled and stored.
Then, during dinner, a county sheriff's deputy stopped by. WTF? Seems a woman about 1/4 mile down the road from us has noticed several times in the last couple of months a bag of trash sitting by her wheelie-thingy, and today she opened it to look inside. Seems it's coming from our house. They found pieces of mail with our names and address on it (deputy had one in his hand when he rang the bell)/ Again, WTF??? I took the trash out in OUR wheelie-thingy at 4am, they pick it up at 6am. Sometime in those two hours a bag migrated down the road. He accused us of trying to get free trash pickup, so mom hauled out the file going back THIRTY-FIVE YEARS containing receipts for trash pickup at this address in her name (do NOT piss off my mother).
This is just stupid. He says if it happens again we'll be getting a ticket for littering. Again, WTF??? We're responsible for someone opening our trash container and putting the bag near someone else's trash container while we're sleeping? Bunch of horseshit. We're calling the trash company tomorrow to see if there's an answer they can provide. Obviously we can't put a padlock on it...how would they get it open to take our trash?

Pulled about 800 flowers/plants at one of our properties. Would you believe it took all day? That's with knocking all the good soil out of the plants' roots, picking up garbage, gathering the stones and putting them back in the stone beds and turning the soil without ripping the roots of the remaining perrenials. Plus loading about 300 lbs of plants into bags and onto to my truck, taking them bag to our storage compound and then off loading them against the fence for pickup. I'm glad that's done. All that's left is the Olive Garden and Red Lobster on Portage Avenue. Those two will be easier as I've planned ahead and pulled more flowers there already.

No animal anywhere should have to suffer due to the ignorance or indifference of those that are supposed to be caring for them. Please note I never say pet owner. I no more own a pet than I would own a fellow human. Thoroughly repugnant. No matter what anyone thinks or says I will say we will always have a social and moral obligation to animals even if we don't like their particular species. I'm not particularly fond of snakes however that doesn't give me the "right" to hurt or kill them. One shouldn't act out of fear or ignorance vis a vis animals at any time. Not a rant against any one here or anywhere. I can see people being fearful and acting rashly. This is human nature. However, given one's predilictions; to rise above them and act with empathy and compassion is to step closer to the state of grace, dignity and empathy. Just my opinion. The Japanese have a beautiful word. It is "giri." This means beyond legal, moral or ethical obligation. To me I guess it means "love" just stated differently.

t_b ... do admire your staying power with some of these work tasks-incredible. Do like plants, and at times amazed that although people claim they are 'really into them' for some reason, they do not like to water, nor feed them! In the past, people would toss into the alley (back lane) all the plants they received for Christmas-including live trees, and flowers in pots. When working out-jogging through the back lanes would spot these discards, and would take home and plant. Some of the trees are two and a half stories high now. Would cut the branches with a bow saw-sharp blade 'like butter' - nice to know where stuff falls before the fact.

In addition, your animal notations are right on - Karma is a word you used in the past, i.e., to describe (at times) what one does comes around-often equal to the harm, or good one does. Would hope that some one thinks in positive terms for animals that suffer, with the thought that their help is not for the self reward, or peace of mind gained, but rather, that their actions may be just a small part of nature's everday plan.
