went shooting- a buddy's AR10 in .308 and his AK in 7.62NATO (both semi only, of course-- he doesn't own anything full auto as he agrees with me- it's just good for wasting ammo).
AR10 shot really nice. With the .308 it ought to take a deer real easily with a clean shot. Plus, with the AR design it's easy to swap out caliber with a simple barrel change.
AK shot alright. Had more stoppages than I'd have cared for. This may be due to the cheap Russian ammo it was using, though I'd think they'd make ammo properly for their weapons. I don't care for the feel of the AK. It doesn't fit my shoulder right. That, and the fact that collapsible stocks are cheap for the AR series, and the fact I carried one for 6 years and know it intimately- I think I'll be going with the AR. Damn shame though, as the AR costs about twice what an AK does.
Also tried out his deer rifle. Don't recall the specs, think it was in 7.62 as well. Bolt Action, Mauser with a scope. Literally a weapon his grandfather brought back from the war. Too damn long and heavy for my tastes.

Not sure about a broken ankle, however if it is badly sprained, not broken: R.I.C.E. it. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Worked a charm on my very badly sprained ankle. I was supposed to be, according to the doctor, off work for 6-8 weeks (like who can afford that other than the very wealthy or retired) and I was back to work in 4 days time. This is after my ankle was twice its normal size, black, blue and purple with yellow/green thrown in and I wasn't able to put 1 once of weight on it. Please be very careful with this Peap.

I think I maybe jolted it somehow...I can walk on it...it's a little swollen, but it hurts to bend it sideways at all or turn it...hurts a little to walk...
I was doing some parkour and ended up hangin off a railing on some bleachers about 20 ft off the ground...and just let go...landed and rolled with it but felt a sting, and was able to get up from the roll and wobble to a bench to find out the status if it was swollen or purple..after I got home (10 mins from when I landed) I threw ice on it...and was able to walk about 2 hours later...tingles a little but, not enough to keep Peap down for long...not gonna try anything that high until it's all good...
thanks for the advice though when I do break somthing...you guys are good guys...

t_b had some good advice ... need to continually ice the ankle to get the swelling down-it is best to have the swelling hopefully under control before you see your MD. Stay off of it as much as possible and keep up-but do go get it checked out! Make sure the ice is covered so you do not damage (burn) the skin. Do not just leave on-do a few minutes on and several minutes off-check the medical section on the web. More info below if you wish:

Best to cover the ice (use frozen peas, they are best as they will conform to body part structure most completely) with a tea towel. That seems to be the consensus among experts as to the best thickness with removing the ice the proper distance from skin contact but transmitting the most "cold" to the affected area. See the MD, tout de suite, s'il vous plait.

Went into the office early. Getting busy with Toys For Tots. The one thing that really pisses me off about this: Every year we got 1 or 2 (at least) parents who show up on the 26 or the 27 rolling up in BMW, or Mercedes, or some really nice expensive car, and they bitch and moan and scream, "why didn't my kid get an Xbox or a PS3". Mind you we do T.F.T. for underprivileged children. Im sorry if you bitch about not getting a $400 game system for Christmas, and your signed up for T.F.T, while driving a car i'll never afford.......YEAH you understand my anger

. So my question to you is, when i get pissy and tell them they are in the wrong place, Why Am I The ASSHOLE?

Just keep on doing the great work Snuffy and know in your heart and mind that those that need it and receive the TFT thru your efforts and others truly do appreciate it. As to the others, they are assholes and that is their karma. Hopefully by the end of their lifes they may figure out what is truly important and what isn't; and if not, just remember they engineered their own karma (so feck 'em) and more than likely they'll come back as a dung beetle or a toilet seat in a hosptial for dysentry patients. LOL. <Then they get to feel what it's like to be shit on. Bwahahahahahaha.>

Only if you promise to let me help. Locally, the Santa Girls (same deal as TFT) had their warehouse completely trashed a couple of weeks ago. Turns out it was kids thinking they were funny...but the end result is that about 70% of the toys collected were ruined. People suck.
Today I forgot mom had physical therapy, and she didn't call me to come home and get her until 30 minutes before she had to be there, so I got her there ten minutes late. Then I had a meeting for five hours. Now I'm doing laundry, which hopefully will be done soon so I can get to the boy's house and bring him dinner, as he's starving (we're both flat broke, but I at least have a mother who buys groceries so I can cook and doesn't mind if I bring him a plate most nights).

I think I'm finally done with laundry! I've got the futon cover in the dryer now, and it appears to be the last thing. 'Bout freaken time.
Other than that, slept in, dropped the boy off at work, came home, finally bought a headlight for the car (it's been out for about a month, I keep forgetting), watched a bunch of TV, etc. Nothin' too exciting.

Yeah, I'd hate to be the guy who spec'd out that project.
Should've put the power conditioners outside of the cut-over switching system, so at least we could have 'cleaner' commercial power in the event of a catastrophic failure like that.
And ya know - we've had the same issues with the commercial power for years... but we ran the old VAX mainframes off commercial power (often without power conditioners) and never had as many issues with recovery as these n00bs seem to have these days.
Gimme old iron over this new delicate crap anyday.
