that the Amercian had gone too far with all those Sercuity Arrangement with the traveller as they are now changing the system that would ensure that all the traveller would undergo the same system as a criminal!!

I agree with the article bringing up discrimination claims. Kudos to those nations who are fighting it, although I doubt they would ever win, makes sense to me.

This holiday season, the United States blocked or delayed several international flights into the country because of security concerns. Ultimately, no arrests were made, and the government admits there may have been no terrorist plot to begin with. In fact, some of the flights had spelling errors on their passenger manifests that caused the delays. More specifically, a test of the US-VISIT program in Atlanta screened over 20,000 passengers and found just 21 people with suspicious records. None of them were suspected terrorists - rather, they had been convicted of prior offenses including statutory rape.

Sorry Yellowbelly... this sounds like a thread that John Britain posted at "the other place." It's not even three years since the attack and we're still learning what goes too far. I don't think this does. Although having traveled to Taiwan I can assure you that I could have gotten a thermo-nuclear device on board any of those domestic flights - no security!

Who is affected by the new rules?
Those who have to renew passports after 26 October this year, but before new biometric ones become available in mid-2005.

i had a passport ten years ago that had that machine readable mumbojumbo on, though the new one is laid out differently
