i have one desktop, one laptop. i have a cable modem connected to a linksys wireless router. Desktop is hard wired, and laptop is wireless. I have Windows XP PRO on both.
The laptop is also used at school, and its on a domain. I'm trying to get the two computers to have file and printer sharing. The problem is the only way i know how is to make them both on the same workgroup, and connect that way. But if i do that to the laptop, i get kicked off my school domain, therefore it won't be able to print at school.
So how can i set up a network at home so that it won't kick me off my school domain.?????

How about changing the desktop's workgroup to be the same as the laptop....

for example, the laptop domain is "LTU4". so should i put the desktop workgroup to "LTU4". does it matter that one is setup as a domain, and the otehr as a workgroup???

As long as they are in the same workgroup & file sharing is enabled, you're good to go....

One quick question.... are they both running the same OS? 98 or lower is VERY fussy about upper & lower case letters in the domain name.... just a thought.
Never mind..... just reread the original post....
