A US man in drag who led police on a low-speed car chase has stunned detectives by inadvertently driving past a city police HQ while trying to escape.
Sandy Long, 55, had twice left the Toledo city limits - out of reach of trailing police - when he made a U-turn and drove towards the massive police station.
The incident began after Long, who was wearing women's clothing, high-heeled shoes, and a wig, was stopped for weaving about the road. He told officers: "I am not going to jail. You will have to kill me first."
Oregon police officer Fisher said: "We joked at one time that we probably could stop and get a cup of coffee, pick this [chase] up again later, and still catch up with him," Fisher said.
Long had driven for more than an hour several miles under the speed limit with chasing patrol cars when scores of officers who were changing shift in the police HQ, spilled out of the building and spotted him.
Suddenly surrounded by officers, the driver slowed, allowing officers to break his car's windows, unlock its doors, and arrest Long.
He has been charged with fleeing and eluding, failing to comply with police orders, and several traffic violations, reports
