Whaddaya think peeps - was this month's Rig of the Month really worth it? I mean seriously - the guy built a box outside of a standard chassis out of Legos... LEGOS!!!
WTF are these people thinking?!
I am SO submitting my NASCAR case to that contest now. I just gotta get the new decals done and get some better pictures now.
Now last month's rig (the ammo box with military-grade hardware) absolutely rocked.
I tried to find a link to this month's ROTM winner, but the bums at Maximum PC don't put stuff from the current mag online. In fact, they don't really put much of anything online. Kinda pathetic for a bleeding edge tech rag not to take advantage of the latest media outlet. Oh well.

Wouldn't it melt with all those warmth the computer generated?
Personally I think it a naff anyway.

I sent them an e-mail asking about putting the Monthly Rig winner on their website (the better to link pics to...), so we'll see what happens.
Otherwise, you'll need to get this month's issue, or wait til I can get the URL of the winner's website and hopefully find some pics there.
I ain't wastin' the time to scan that turd straight out of the magazine, either. Legos.... The guy won $1000 for playing with Legos. Geez.

I'm picking up my vinyl tape today, then I'll probably print the decals and reapply them tonight (don't look for me online much, since the machine I'll be goofing with is the router after all).
Then I gotta take some pics and come up with a 300-words essay on 'What this machine means to me...' or some bullsh1t like that (no biggee). I might even have to clean my computer desk for the pics as well - and that could take awhile.

Probably have it in sometime this weekend - late, this weekend.

Oh yeah - I'm well aware of that... but I'm just having a hard time with the fact that someone won $1000 for playing with Legos.
Especially, when stuff like this is out there:

Well, as long as they don't need to see the machine running in person, we're still in.
I came home just in time to try and resurrect my Webserver/FTP Server/Router/Gateway to no avail. After an hour of exhausting every resource available to me, I got the permanent BSOD (blue screen w/white vertical streaks) while reinstalling Win2K Adv Server. Time of Death, 16:45 - 22 Feb 04
If anyone would like to deliver a eulogy for our dearly departed Rusty, the service will be held sometime this weekend.
I pretty much grabbed the HDD out of the NASCAR machine and stuffed it back into the machine it replaced so I'm back in business for now.
I'm looking into getting a Shuttle IPX mobo and reconfiguring a bit.

Hmm... maybe it's Rusty's winless streak that jinxed the server?

Nah... I'm pretty sure it was a power surge. We had some storms in the area Monday, Tuesday, & today. As luck would have it, the power cord on the machine had to be hardwired into the PS to save making another hole in the body for that. Consequently, the cord ran too short to reach my monster power strip and got plugged into the wall directly.
Some of the storms Monday morning had lightning involved.
That's OK though - the latest sh!thead they hired for the hardware team at work assured me that Gigabyte makes crappy motherboards (without ever actually owning one) and he can't even begin to imagine why I would choose one of their POS's for my machine over an ASUS.

(This is the same guy that can't even make the support hooks for our Link system the same length even using the jig I made for that very purpose)
*edit* - Oh, and smile when you mention 'Rusty's winless streak.'
