Okay audiophiles, I need some help here.

I'm looking to get a subwoofer to compliment my home stereo system. It ain't high-end, so I'm not after high-end speakers.

Right now, I have an old Sony STR-D615 receiver, two Infinity SM112s, and two Optimus floor speakers (I got a screamin' deal on these behemoths ... don't know model number).

I'm torn between going for a Pyle PDSUB8, an Acoustic Research S108PS, or a KLH-made sub.

I'm on a budget ... mostly just looking to improve sound quality in the home. IF I had the money, I'd get something from Velodyne or Klipsch (I already have a Klipsch 2.1 system for my computer ... and I love it!).

So, anybody got any ideas on this? C'mon, I know SOMEONE out there has to have an opinion on this!

Thanks!

I've used AR and KLH subwoofers. They were both quite good. I understand that KLH is making a wider range of quality than they used to, so I'd stay away from the bottom end.

Thanks ... I suppose I should have posted a while ago, but I got the AR sub ... it ROCKS!! I have to keep it turned down, otherwise, the neighbors get annoyed!

The low frequencies carry well through walls and are also non-directional. Most of the ARs have adjustments on the woofer itself, which is better when gaming late at night. icon_biggrin.gif

You might look into something at cambridge soundworks too, their 8" downward firing subwoofer, i think its the basscube 8? is great for moderate listening levels and its only a bit over 100 dollars. Personally though, i would suggest saving your cash for a bit and buying a klipsch model :P i've yet to throw something at my ksw 15 that it couldnt handle
