For editing sound files from CDs, I suggest a good editor like GoldWave (I use vs. 5.06). It has many options for editing, including changing pitch without affecting tempo, adding reverb, etc. If you often take files from CDs (like Music Minus One) to edit, look into RipEditBurn from Blaze Audio.
