How much is the top clock speed you have gained from an OC ?
Mine was 50Mhz (jubii) when i OC'ed my AMD K6-2 500Mhz @ 550Mhz and its stabil.

well my Athlon 850 OC'ed to 900 but then I quit doing it cause it kept rebooting (thanx to XP's "reboot rather than freeze" attitude... power supply problems no doubt, same things happens very very rarely when I'm using a 3D app or playing a game, the video card just gets too much for the power supply.

Due to a slight mishap (see
this thread here), I have now got my new 1700+ @ 1616. See sig for cooling details.
I am folding 24/7, and have got my times down to 12 1/2 minutes while working. When puter is idle, my fold times per frame are about 9.5-10 minutes. Still a bit slow for the speed I am running though.

My stance on o/c
Overclocking is can be good, Overclocking can be fun. But as soon as you over do it your gonna be in tears.
Like eventually when my machine gets a tad old and rusty i will boost it up. But for now ill just do small FSB clockings iff i really need too.
BTW nice approach CyberWarrior

I agree with that and I will add that it will cost money too replace whatever broke!! So my advice is to OC in small incriments @ a time. I have tried OCing and havent seen an performance increases from 1.2 to 1.4 so I am not OCing anymore. I want to drop in an 1800+ and run that for a good while.

Then get some xtra dosh and get that Athy XP 2ghtz.
Really if you overdo yah CPU now you will have to buy a new one, so you paying double, eg. Athy XP 1.6 = $220 (just as an example)
If you break it thats another $220 to but a new one
so in the end you pay $440 and with that Dosh you get Top off the range
I.R.Baboon
Apr 16 2002, 04:38 AM
But I'm smart and haven't broken it

and I've got the performance of a chip that costs twice as much

And If I go a little higher I'll have the performance of a chip that isn't even released yet

A little bit of watercooling and you can push aAthlon as far as you want just by upping the multiplier, once you unlock it. That way, no need to up FSB and o/c PCI and AGP items. I can run my XP1700 @ 1662Mhz on a 12.5x multiplier. That is using WBK38-II with 1 80mm fan blowing onto it and 2 60mm on rear panel sucking out. The Athy wil go as high as 15x multiplier on my other board but I haven't done it yet due to air cooling. That would be a whopping 1995Mhz out of a chip designed at 1467 base Mhz, all the while not adjusting the FSB...
Makes you think, doesn't it.

my proudest acheivment is the first, because i'm running 120fsb STABLE on an asus k7v, it was lightning quick in its time and my agp bus speed was at 4x(320mhz) with my 3d prophet geforce sdr.
the last two on the same kt7-raid. the multiplier wont go any higher than 13x, so i can only push the fsb to 112, though i have posted at 120
pity my leadtek gf2pro hates high agp bus speeds, anything higher than 105 and i have to drop back to 2xagp.
