4peeps.com Forums > Hardware > Sound

Please go sign the petition here in hopes that NVIDIA will keep the SoundStorm onboard in the chipset!!

One of the MAIN reasons I bought nForce 1, and 2 is BECAUSE of the sound!

I love mine on my Asus A7N8X Deluxe. Sounds better than that popping, clicking, snapping POS Audigy 2 card.

The sound on my A7N8X-Deluxe SUCKS compared to my Audigy 2 ZS fragend013.gif
LiLmoonee
screw it...just get a cheap ass envy 24 sound card for 25 bucks and enjoy REAL 24bit/96khz...not any of that crappy creative stuff heh

PROVE what you got... it probably is NOT SoundStorm
Mandark
Mine is an A7N8x Deluxe with Creative's Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 Dolby Digital Reciever/Amp and 5.1 digital speakers

The sound is better than ANYTHING I have ever heard except for real studio quality systems.

Pappy, your friends probalby have shit speakers running out of the ANALOG outlets and NOT the digital out. There is a world of difference and they cannot even be compared.

You never provide any proof with your silly retorts.
bull
I have the Leadtek nforce2 with soundstorm and it rocks ass. I have had no problems with it at all. It sounds great. thumbup1.gif
Coz
I've got the Asus A7N8X Deluxe w/ Soundstorm and it rocks ass as well.

The only problems I ever had with the damn thing were 'CoZ inducded' icon_smile.gif

It would be a shame if they dropped the APU as that is one of the strong selling points for this board.

Your not a freaking representitive for nVidia manny, so shut it when you have no hard proof, ok? Yes, mine sucks. And I know many with the same problems, it's not un-common. Let's go down some problems with the CHIPSET and the APU at the same time, shall we? I have the Revision 2.0, does it do 200 FSB? Nope. Can the ram I have take 200? Yes, it can take 230. The APU crackles after playing games, and I'v called them and they don't know what the hell is up, I'v tried everything. It doesn't just crackle in games, but it starts doing it random times too. Now, that aside. The Audigy 2, I have zero problems. Not a single one, works fine, and the bass is deaper. I use Logitech Z-560's, not top of the line, but far from sucking. You just gotta stop trying to think you're the only one with correct info, because boy oh boy does that get annoying.
Coz
I dunno, I don't notice any crackle noise from my MoBo/Speakers .. .ever.

And if it was messed up or crappy, you know I would be the first one to bitch about it icon_smile.gif
Mandark
GoKu, why have you not RMA'ed it if it crackles? You KNOW that is not normal and you--the RMA king... I don't understand.

You have a problem with your mobo. I accept that. IF the APU were a problem, there would be so many complaints about it, and well, there aren't.

And I am willing to bet that the HUNDREDS of PCs I have built (in the past) and support (currently)--that work PERFECTLY by the way--are FAR more than all the crap you have overclocked into hell. I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT squirt.

maybe if you wouldnt OC everything to almighty hell you wouldnt HAVE snap crackle pop on board

My big brother uses the A7N8X Deluxe--now the E--exclusivly at his business and he has ZERO problems... did I mention that he has about 100 PCs? The problem is yours dude, either defective when you got it or its your fault.

Settle down guys..................I mean it!!

Yano what Manny, you're not worth my time and effort. I deleted my two posts because ME unlike OTHERS respect the younger kids on the board.
Mandark
Regarding your first comment GoKu, it won't make any difference to motherboard prices.

Regarding your last statement, I have no idea what you are talking about (you must have deleted posts I did not read). You introduced hostility and disrespect into this thread in a big way. When you get any rational

I merely posted a link for those who care to go sign the petition. If you don't want to--then great. This is not a debate about what is best here.

So I like my hardware, BIG DEAL. so SUE me if you must. SHEESH!
GoKu
Manny, I like you. But god damn, I hate it when I know my share of stuff and everything that someone else thinks is good you think sucks, the Antecs aren't the best, but they don't suck *from the PSU thread..*

stuff like that
Mandark
OK, OK.

but i just wanted to post the petition for those who wanted to sign it.

I signed it. icon_wink.gif

According to this article the new Nvidia chipset for the Athlon64 (939 Pin) is adding High-Definition 24-bit 96kHz 7.1 audio.

I had one on ABIT NF7-S and I really liked it. No need for PCI sound card whatsoever. i think this is stupid that Nvidia drops APU. APU makes NF chipset more appealing. Bad move Nvidia... again icon_biggrin.gif
Mandark
Thanks everyone!!

Boy that Hi-Definition 7.1 sounds good for the 939 pin cpu

I think SoundStorm rocks for onboard sound, but I had been having problems too till I found this http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthrea...ad.php?p=109397 After installing the different driver everything worked better. No cracking sound and stuff even loaded faster. If any of you guys wanna try fixing your Nforce2 sound problems, or even if it isn't problems with sound, I'd check this out.

P.S. The post is aimed at Abit NF7-S owners but I have an EPoX 8RDA+ and it worked just fine for me.

Here is a review of the new nForce3 250 and the APU is not present ? The firewall sounds nice but I still will not touch it until I start reading posts in the forums so that I can be sure that it is not as buggy as their other chipsets.

Alister
Mandark
buggy?

no problems here ever... except my own fault
Mandark
WOW!! I did the ACPI trick

HOLY COW!!! What a HUGE difference in overall perfomance!
Coz
Umm what ACPI trick?

I have heard (read) alot of complaints about their IDE controller/drivers every since the Nforce1. I passed on NF1 and was gonna try the NF2 but then I was hearing complaints about the IDE stuff on it also, I had to pass again.

The IDE drivers were not included in early revs. nVIDIA makes them. They are out of BETA and they are FANTASTIC!!

I have noticed a significant improvement in performance, though I have not benchmarked each scenario so I can't tell by how much.

I can use Nero again too, but found Winamp 5 Pro excellent for all my music cd burning and ripping.

For data CD's I use Goldenhawk's CDRWIN
Demon
Not interested... I prefer Intel chips. I've never liked onboard sound, I always prefer an add-in card. But then again, I'm used to upgrading my peripherals more frequently than my mobo. I think I'd go with the Envy or even the Creative over built-in, non-upgradeable sound.
