Fiance's daughter is over in Ireland, recently she bought one of those Nokia N-Gage phones... Just got it all loaded up with games and stuff when some slimebag pilfers it, and her wallet from her purse at a pub... 7.gif

Cops dont care at all...

She's called the phone but there is no answer on it...

If someone changes the Simm card in it, is there anyway the phone company can find this phone via a serial number etc?

Do Simm cards transmit this info, or is the phone lost forever?

Very Sh*tty as she is on a SWAP program over there... Thank god her passport wasn't with her... icon_evil.gif

Every phone is encoded with an individual serial number.. that phone would have what they call an "IMEI" serial number...

if someone changes the sim in it, it may, or may not work... It all depends on whether the phone is provider locked or not.. if it is provider locked, then if she reports it to the provider, and someone else tries to use it, it won't work.. if it's not provider locked, then there is nothing that can be done really.. they can track the serial number, but multiple carriers rarely if ever care if they have a "foreign" stolen serial number on their network.. it's unfortunate, but that harsh truth...

Thanks Earthman!

I didn't hold up much hope but though I'd ask those in the know anyway.
