No, no it is not good. You call a glorified GeForce 2 MX that's rebranded good? Paying $100 for crap is good? I state $100 because that's what you pay for it at Best Buy where the general consumer buys their "upgrade" PC parts. Just break down and get a 9600/5700.
I believe it is the GeForce 4 MX series that is simply a glorified GeForce 2. From experience, the GeForce 4 isn't much of a performance boost from the GeForce 2. HOWEVER, the GeForce FX 5200 is far superior to the GeForce 4 MX, as compared to less than 3 FPS in Doom 3 640x480 low graphics, to 13 FPS in Doom 3 640x480 low graphics. The GeForce FX 5200 isnt a bad card at all, however I got sick of it when it began to lag up my computer when I overclocked it. Now I'm proudly sitting with a GeForce 6600GT... such a sweet card, 60 FPS in Doom 3 at 1280x1024 at High graphics, rock bottom was about 50 FPS lol. (128 MB GDDR3)
Anyway, in all honesty, No, the GeForce FX 5200 IS a decent card for those who are looking for a cheap, minor upgrade. Buying the 128 MB one is $80, whereas the 256 MB one is something like $140. FX 5200 uses a newer graphics engine than GeForce 2, and runs newer games MUUUUCCCHHHHH better. I KNOW this from experience, as I have owned all 3 cards previously.
as a side note I managed to sell my GeForce MX 440 to someone for $40 lol...
