Mountain Home AFB, ID - USAF Thunderbird pilot ejects from aircraft during approach due to low altitude. The pilot was accustomed to performing this maneuver at Nellis AFB, NV (Home of the USAF Thunderbirds) which is approximately 1000 lower in altitude. He miscalculated his approach, thinking he was higher than he was in relation to Mountain Home's runway. He bailed out with seconds to spare.

[QUOTE]The aircraft, valued at about $20.4 million, was destroyed.

So, do you suppose he gets in trouble for that?

No. Just an inquiry, and wrote off as an occupational hazzard. icon_biggrin.gif

Well, the pilot completed his tour with the Thunderbirds from a desk. That much was mentioned in the report at Air Force Link - not in those words though.

And now for what REALLY happened:

I wonder if the announcer mentioned anything about everyone's taxes going up?

"the aircraft, valued at 20.4 million, was destroyed".

Gee-- ya think?!?
