Does anyone know how to unlock an athlon XP? It's really hard i've been told!

Yeah they put pits in between the bridges. I've seen a guide where you tape off the bridges so only the pits are exposed, then you fill them with superglue. Once its dried you take the tape off then apply whatever you want to connect the bridges.

http://www6.tomshardware.com/column/01q4/0...1124/index.html Give this a shot it covers most stuff you'll need to O/C your XP

i have seen the video, my actual question within my original question (if that makes sence!!!) was if there was another way, rather than all the stuff on the video??????
some one told me about it, i was just wondering if he was talking out of his ass or not???

Well, If we compare it to the old way of unlocking older Tbird's, it is more difficult...

no -you short ou the L2's basicly... thats what the vid describes- theres various kits.
your friend might have got a bit confused with other processors...

ah- comprendo- i see what you mean
thats a "physical " way of o/cing your chip - it removes the clock multiplier- theres a post about this some where else- but hey...
the other component of over clocking is increasing your front side bus- fsb for short. this allows you to increase the speed of your processor, and this can be done in a number of ways.
see the other post in the o/cing section for more details.

I agree. O/C by increasing the front side bus is a piece of cake if you have a softmenu bios like the Abit boards...

i have heard that you can get a jeweller to connect the bridges with solder and fine wire this will work but will probably cost a pretty penny.
anyways im sure there are better ideas

yeah jewellers are ok if u have the money.
depends on your mobo tho- i went blindly

to the trouble of oc-ing my duron900 only to find that i couldn't change my fsb (SiS chipset on a very basic ddr mobo), but there are some programs which let you do it from windows. cpufsb is one i use, and i get a rather modest oc of 990mhz.

I rubbed my xp1900 real sniny with an eraser and connected them with ink from a conductive pen, useing a needle as the thing to spread the ink with.
Works great, for a one eyed old fart!

so you didn't have to fill the bridges Pappy177?
and you still got the unlocked cpu just by using the conductive ink?!

Time for me to take off the heatsink and give it a go!

just shine up the contacs nicely with the eraser and connect the dots.
a magnifieing glass helps!
